Alpha Acid The bittering acid in hops

Balling Unit of measure used to determine the density of liquid compared to water.
Barley A cereal grain used for making beer
Bittering Hops Hops added at the beginning of a wort boil to add bitterness to the wort to counteract the sweetness of the malt.

Final Gravity The density of beer in relation to water at the end of the fermentation process.
Finishing Hops Hops added to the last stages of boiling wort to add flavor and aroma.

Hops Flower used to flavor and preserve beer
Hydrometer A device used to determine the density of liquid compared to water. This can be used to determine the potential alcohol content.

Wort The sweet liquid that comes from mashing. Unfermented beer.
